The type of people you DON'T want supporting you...

Tshirt

Chicago native, Sherman Cleveland, 40, was arrested last week and had his car impounded after he allegedly offered a female police officer money if she'd perform a sex act on him (according to Officer Laura Kubiak, a Chicago Police Department spokesperson).  Cleveland was wearing a shirt with the words "Obama For Change" and a caricature of the presumptive Democratic nominee during the time of his arrest.

Okay...people...BLACK people.  Can we please limit the wearing of Barack gear when committing crimes....?  It doesn't really make him or us look too good...

yeah....

Aaliyah Movie?

Talks of an Aaliyah flick have been going around for quite some time now but now I'm hearing American Idol season 5 finalist, Lisa Tucker is favored to play the late singer as opposed to Canadian born singer, Keshia Chante

I definitely think Keshia has more of an "Aaliyah" vibe...but we'll see.

Why they broke up...

Floetry

Marsha Ambrosius, of Floetry gave this interview to singersroom.com:

Break_2

Singersroom: What exactly happened between you and Nathalie Stewart?

Marsha Ambrosius: It was definitely a personal decision, nothing outside the business. It was a personal reason why Nat and I were unable to work together anymore. I tried to be there for her as a friend and she kind of push me away so you can’t help anybody that doesn’t want to be help. I felt kind of lopsided and I needed to allow her to be whoever she wanted to be and let her go. She wanted to roll, I allowed her to go ahead and do whatever she thought she needed to do. That’s really what happened, grown women sometimes have to face up to know that maybe we don’t get along. We weren’t getting along, we weren’t clicking anymore. You can’t force a situation [just] because people are affected [by] you. I couldn’t live with myself to try to help her in a situation that she couldn’t help herself through and she clearly chose another avenue and I had to allow her to do that. She had to allow me to do me. It was a mutual decision so we separated.

Singersroom: You had such a nice chemistry, are you still friends?

Marsha Ambrosius: Ah mean, that came from being friends for fifteen years and just having the same background and a couple of the same friends coming from the same place. That’s where that chemistry came from. I haven’t spoken to her since July of last year and our last show together was December 2006. That doesn’t mean to say that we are not friends, it’s just that we don’t talk right now. I couldn’t tell you where in the world she is, I hope she’s well and safe and my prayers are with her.

Charles Barkley on Black America

Charles_barkley

NBA legend and TNT announcer Charles Barkley was on CNN Thursday to share his thoughts about “Black in America”.

Break

“I just feel sadness.  I feel sad because black on black crime is going through the roof.  We have more black men in prison than we do in college.  At some point, I mean racism exists; it’s always going to exist, unfortunately.  But at some point, you have to draw a line in the sand.  And we have not drawn that line in the sand.  When I made my role model commercial back in the (19)80’s, it was really poignant and significant because schools are still segregated. When I would speak at white schools, I would (ask them), ‘who wants to play in the NBA?’  Only five percent would raise their hands.  I would say, ‘well what do you want to do?’  (They would say,) ‘I want to be a teacher, a fireman, a policeman, a doctor, lawyer, engineer.’  Then when I would go and speak at black schools, 95 percent of them would raise their hand (wanting to play in the NBA).  That’s why I made the role model commercial.  I want young, black men to think about being doctors, lawyers, teachers, firemen, policemen and things like that.”
